Vanceboro, NC – Gregory Henderson Killed in Fatal Truck Accident on NC-17

Vanceboro, NC (January 13, 2021) – On Wednesday afternoon, January 13, a fatal head-on truck accident took place on a major roadway in Vanceboro.

According to officials, the accident took place on NC-17 when a log truck and a van collided with one another head-on. The van was traveling north and the truck was traveling south when they collided around noon. Police confirmed that both of the involved vehicles sustained heavy damages, with both found off the side of the road.

The driver of the van, identified as Gregory Henderson, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. The driver of the log truck was identified as Williard Verville, who was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The roadway was closed down in the area for approximately five hours as police worked to clear the scene.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
