Wendell, NC (September 25, 2021) – On Friday morning, September 24, a fatal motorcycle accident occurred on a major roadway in Wendell.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident happened on US-64. A tractor-trailer was traveling in the right lane while a Chevrolet was in front of a motorcycle. Traffic started to slow down in the area. This is when the motorcyclist ran into the back of the Chevy because it was unable to stop in time. The motorcyclist tipped over when he was run over by the tractor-trailer.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The motorcyclist, who has been identified as a 20-year-old man, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in several lanes for a period of time. This led to extensive delays throughout the morning hours.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
