Wilmington, NC – Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Shipyard Blvd

Wilmington, NC (January 27, 2021) – Around 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning, January 27, a fatal pedestrian accident took place on a roadway in Wilmington.

According to police, the accident took place on Shipyard Boulevard right in front of the Wilmington Fore Station. The pedestrian was crossing the road in the area. When he made it to the center lane, he was struck by a truck driving through the area.

The pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was the only person injured in the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene of the accident. They have not been charged and have been cooperating with the police.

Multiple lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for approximately two hours as police cleared the scene.
