Wilmington, NC (June 14, 2021) – At 3:40 a.m. on Monday morning, June 14, an officer was injured in a car accident at an intersection in Wilmington.
According to State Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened at the intersection of South College Road and Wilshire Boulevard. A police officer pulled up to the intersection in his cruiser and started to make a left turn onto Wilshire when his vehicle was struck. The vehicle that struck the cruiser was traveling south at the time.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Two people were injured in the accident, including the police officer. They are expected to recover from their injuries.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the cruiser, identified as Millard Taylor, remained at the scene. He has since received charges for his role in the accident.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
