Wilmington, NC (April 2, 2021) – On Thursday afternoon, April 1, a workplace accident occurred at a construction site in Wilmington.
According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at 8128 Market Street. A construction crew was operating a crane when it suddenly struck the main power line and led to an explosion. This also caused two power lines to fall to the ground so energy crews had to repair the live lines.
Paramedics were dispatched to the scene. Two construction crew members were transported to the hospital, though their conditions are not yet known.
The area was blocked for some time until police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
