Wilson, NC (October 26, 2021) – Around 4:15 p.m. on the afternoon of Monday, October 25, a bus driver was hurt in a bus crash in Wilson.
According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened on NC-42 around the area of Ernest Road. A school bus was pulling away from a stop when the driver of an SUV did not stop in time, slamming into the rear of the bus. The SUV driver was not paying attention when the accident occurred.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. No children on the bus were hurt in the accident. The bus driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries but they are expected to be okay.
The bus was not heavily damaged in the accident. Police confirmed that the driver of the SUV will be cited for their role in the accident.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
