Winston-Salem, NC (January 10, 2021) – A woman was killed following a deadly two-vehicle collision in Winston-Salem on Saturday, January 9.
According to local reports, the two vehicles collided head-on near the intersection of US-52 and US-421. Local sources revealed that 59-year-old Catalina Mariano-Cruz of Winston-Salem was traveling as a passenger in a vehicle at the time of the deadly crash. She sustained fatal injuries in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, 62-year-old Pedro Banos Avila, was hospitalized for the treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the second vehicle, 20-year-old James Edward Cuthrell, was uninjured in the crash. No further information on the accident is currently available.
An ongoing investigation into the deadly crash is currently underway.
