Zebulon, NC – Officer Injured in Truck Accident at NC-39 & US-264

Zebulon, NC (February 5, 2021) – Around 11:15 p.m. on Thursday night, February 4, an officer was injured in a truck accident in Zebulon.

According to officials, the accident took place at the intersection of NC-39 and US-264. When police arrived at the scene, they found that a police officer was traveling east and went through the stop sign, colliding with a tractor-trailer. The cruiser struck the side of the truck at unknown speeds.

Paramedics and fire crews were present at the scene. The officer had to be pulled from the burning police cruiser, as he was trapped and unable to get out. He has since been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was closed in all directions until almost 3 a.m. in the morning.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
