Chapel Hill, NC (January 25, 2022) – On Tuesday afternoon, January 25, a pedestrian accident involving several children took place in Chapel Hill.
According to the Chapel Hill Police Department, the incident happened around 4 p.m. on Caldwell Street in front of the Northside Elementary School. Police confirmed that Fiona Evans was parking her SUV next to the playground when she hit her gas pedal and crashed through a fence, striking playground equipment. Police said she was trying to hit her brake pedal. There were children on the playground equipment between the ages of 5 and 9 years old.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Evans was rushed to the hospital, as well as two children who were on the equipment at the time. A third child was treated at the school for their injuries.
The area was blocked off for some time following the accident.
