Durham, NC (January 15, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash that took place on Durham on Saturday, January 15.
Durham Police confirmed that the accident happened at 4 a.m. on Denfield Street. Police confirmed that 28-year-old Darion Revels was walking in the southbound lanes of traffic when he was suddenly struck by a sedan. The driver did not stop at the scene and fled before police arrived.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Due to his injuries, Revels was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time. Police confirmed that the driver of the vehicle that fled the scene is missing a hubcap and has damage to its front bumper.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
