According to Raleigh officials, the accident happened after 2 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-95 around the area of mile marker 65. A log truck was traveling in the area when the driver suddenly lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn. The truck then landed on a passenger vehicle that was traveling in the same area. The log truck and the vehicle then caught on fire.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims sustained injuries as a result of the collision. The injured parties were hospitalized, though their conditions are not yet known.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time. This led to delays in both directions until police cleared the scene.
