Raleigh, NC – Dump Truck Crash with Injuries in NB Lanes of I-87

Raleigh, NC (January 18, 2022) – At 3:36 p.m. on the afternoon of Monday, January 17, a dump truck accident occurred in Raleigh.

Raleigh Police confirmed that the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-87 around the area of Poole Road and New Hope Road. A dump truck was traveling in the area when it collided with a utility van due to reasons that are not yet known. One of the vehicles overturned as a result.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Several people were injured as a result of the accident. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment of unknown injuries.

Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the roadway was blocked for some time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
