Raleigh, NC (January 11, 2022) – Around 5 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, January 11, an EMS worker was hurt in a Raleigh intersection crash.
According to Raleigh Police, the accident happened at the intersection of Poole Road and Sunnybrook Road. An ambulance was traveling through the intersection when it was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle. The ambulance sustained heavy damages to its front end. Police confirmed that there was not a patient in the ambulance at the time of the crash, but the ambulance was headed to an emergency call at the time.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the passenger vehicle sustained injuries but is expected to be okay. The driver of the ambulance was also injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
A large portion of the intersection was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene. Police confirmed that lights and sirens were activated on the ambulance at the time of the crash.
