Raleigh, NC (January 22, 2022) – One person was injured in a pedestrian accident that took place on a roadway in Raleigh on Friday evening, January 21.
Raleigh Police confirmed that the accident happened on Western Boulevard around the area of I-440 at 6:30 p.m. Police reported that there was an initial crash involving the pedestrian. When the pedestrian got out of the crashed vehicle, they were suddenly struck by another vehicle that was traveling in the area. It is believed that the striking vehicle remained at the scene.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was rushed to the hospital with injuries. Their current condition is not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area so that police could clear the scene of both crashes. This led to delays in the area for some time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
