Raleigh, NC (February 2, 2022) – One person was seriously injured in a rollover accident that took place on a major highway in Raleigh on Wednesday night, February 2.
Raleigh Police confirmed that the accident happened on I-40 around the area of NC-54 at 9:15 p.m. One vehicle was on the right shoulder in the eastbound lanes of traffic when the driver suddenly merged into traffic. They collided with a second vehicle, causing one of the vehicles to roll over on the side of the road. The vehicles involved in the accident were severely damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One of the drivers involved in the accident was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. The other driver received minor injuries.
The roadway was blocked in eastbound lanes of traffic for some time as police worked to clear the scene.
