Raleigh, NC (January 29, 2022) – A man sustained severe injuries in a bicycle crash that took place on Friday night, January 28, in Raleigh.
Raleigh Police confirmed that the collision happened around 7:45 p.m. on Yates Mill Pond Road. A bicyclist was traveling in the area when he was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle that was also traveling on the roadway. It is not known if the driver saw the bicyclist before the accident happened. The driver remained at the scene of the crash.
Paramedics and numerous other responders, including Raleigh fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The male bicyclist, who has not yet been formally identified, was seriously injured as a result of the crash. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Due to the severity of the collision, a large portion of the roadway was blocked for a period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
