Selma, NC (January 27, 2022) – Two people were injured in a school bus accident that took place at an intersection in Selma on Wednesday afternoon, January 26.
According to local officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Pittman Road and US-301 in the afternoon hours. A North Johnston Middle School bus was traveling in the area when it collided with a passenger vehicle due to reasons that are not yet known. The school bus slid off the side of the road and the passenger vehicle immediately caught on fire.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. There were no children inside the bus at the time. However, both drivers of the vehicles sustained injuries as a result of the accident. The parties were hospitalized, though they are expected to recover.
The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
