Statesville, NC (January 4, 2022) – Officials reported that, on Monday morning, January 3, a fatal truck accident occurred on a major roadway in Statesville.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 8:25 a.m. and involved a passenger vehicle and a box truck. Police confirmed that the accident took place on NC-90 around Village Point Drive. The driver of a 2007 Infiniti was headed west on the highway when they were suddenly struck by an International box truck due to reasons that are not yet known.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene. The driver of the Infiniti was identified as 41-year-old Brandy Redmon, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, identified as 16-year-old Kenyon Dulin, was also pronounced dead. The 46-year-old Mount Holly truck driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Due to the severity of the collision, the highway was blocked in both directions for approximately three hours. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
