Winston-Salem, NC – Zachary Baker Killed in Pedestrian Crash on New Walkertown Rd

Winston-Salem, NC (January 3, 2022) – On Monday morning, January 3, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash on a roadway in Winston-Salem.

According to local officials, the accident happened around 3:25 a.m. in the morning at 3000 New Walkertown Road near East Drive. An adult male pedestrian was walking in the area when he was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle. The driver of the vehicle did not stop to check on the pedestrian after the collision.

Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as 32-year-old Zachary Baker, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.

The roadway was blocked for hours in the area of the accident until police were able to clear the scene. They did not say if they found the driver responsible for the accident.

No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
