Construction Accident — $101M Jury Verdict On May 19, 2026 a Hendersonville NC jury awarded $101M in damages following a six week trial due to a retaining wall that collapsed killing one masonry worker and severely injuring 3 others. The masons were members of a crew that were working at newly built retaining wall located at a Hajoca Profit Center in Hendersonville North Carolina. Andrew Weymouth the manager of the Hendersonville Hajoca Profit Center chose to repair the previously collapsed wall. Weymouth and Hajoca also never consulted with an expert, structural engineer or filed for a building permit even though it was required by code. As a result, the wall collapsed killing one worker and significantly injuring the other three. During jury selection one of the cases settled for a confidential amount.
